What is the difference between a Trade NAFTA visa (TN visa) and a Green Card?

Trade NAFTA Visa
Trade NAFTA status is temporary in nature, restricted to the employer and must be renewed annually. Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a citizen of a NAFTA country (Canada, Mexico or the U.S.) may work in a professional occupation in another NAFTA country provided that:
  • The profession is on the NAFTA list.
  • The alien possesses the specific criteria for that profession.
  • The prospective position requires someone in that professional capacity.
  • The alien is going to work for a U.S. employer.
The spouse and any unmarried minor children of the principal alien are entitled to derivative status, but are unable to accept employment in the United States. Aliens entering under this classification are considered non-immigrants.

  Green Card status
Having a Green Card allows you to live and work in the United States for a ten year period. As a permanent resident, you can eventually qualify for U.S. citizenship. If your spouse becomes a permanent resident through your residency status, he or she can also work in the United States.

What are the requirements for obtaining a Green Card through American Mobile Healthcare?

  • You must have a nursing diploma or a BSN as well as a nursing license in the United States or in your home country.
  • You must have one year of experience and have completed at least two travel assignments with American Mobile Healthcare.
  • You must be in good standing, including compliant with travel documentation.
  • You must have passed the CGFNS exam or NCLEX or hold a full and unrestricted license to practice nursing in the U.S. state of intended employment.
  • You must possess a valid VisaScreen certificate.
  • You must be committed to working with American Mobile Healthcare while your Green Card is in process.

How long does it take to get a Green Card?

The entire process is likely to take 24 to 36 months, depending on the INS processing times and backlogs in the per-country quota.

What are the family immigration policies?

One of the great benefits of our Green Card program is that your spouse and dependent children under age 21 may qualify to immigrate with you to the United States. No separate application is initially required.

  Who pays the attorneys' fees?

Once you are on an assignment with American Mobile Healthcare, we will pay the attorneys' fees and related cost for the filing of an Employment-based Immigrant Petition (Form I-140), an Application to Adjust Status (Form I-485) and one application for employment authorization. You will be responsible for the payment of Green Card applications for your spouse and/or minor children, as well as any extraordinary expenses should your case include complications requiring additional attorney attention.

  How do I get started?

  • Contact American Mobile Healthcare as soon as possible and ask for the immigration coordinator to send you the information packet and program questionnaire.
  • Our company attorneys will review your questionnaire to determine if you have the necessary qualifications for participation in the Green Card program.
  We make it easy.
